The Inner Indie Kid

Okay, i've been a music lover my entire life so my love for music stretches across almost all genres. I've been through every phase from country to metal to crusty punk to indie hipster kid to something else and on and on. This was all within my own personality but my general attitude was definitely affected by my listenings.
Anyway, I've been on a downloading spree the past few days trying to make sure i have all genres covered for whatever mood my hormone infested body desires. Soooo, I searched through my dusty MySpace profile (used during the peak of my shitty indie phase) and though most of the bands i once thought so epic were rather discardable, i found a few gems amongst the dregs of the era.
Now, in hopes i don't sound arrogant, before i post a link for your free download of Yoko Kikuchi's "The Morning Dumb" (that you probably won't want), let me explain something about indie music to those who know nothing about it or those who think they do.
INDIE MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE SIMPLE AND SHITTY! They know this and they know they're not great musicians or songwriters.
And if you think they are, listen to Iron Maiden.
That being said, this song was one of my favorite picks during my bouts of public transportation. I don't really know why but The Jungle Brother's "Brain" and Yoko Kikuchi's "The Morning Dumb" were always the best soundtracks to people-watching, which is what public transportation is ultimitely about when you're in your early 20's.

Now, though I've shaken close to all my indie coats, chipper indie songs like Madame Yoko's somehow know the melodic chords to strum yer heart with. Well, if you're a girl.
So now you know, i once was an indie kid too :/
I'm not so much ashamed as i am angry at the hipster arrogance that i'm still trying to shake loose. It's just really hard to see people listen to really shitty music or listen to music you dearly love when they have no respect for it. If it made them really happy and they loved it, it'd be one thing, even if it was shitty, but it's generally not that way. Buuut music is my most respected jewel, it's like most people's BMW's or thier beloved pets, only dearer and more personal, so i think it's fair to be offeneded by people's terrible neglect for music.
Even if it is slightly arrogant... maybe... still working on that.
